The Western Coast
Porto Torres
Porto Torres, on the Gulf of Asinara, is a real port town before it is a resort — its beaches, Platamona and Ezzi Mannu, stretch wide enough to stay uncrowded even in summer. The Roman Bridge has stood for over two thousand years, alongside the Basilica of the Turritan Martyrs and the Aragonese Tower.
Well-kept roads connect it easily to Sassari and Alghero, and Chico Mendes Park gives the town a quiet green space of its own. It holds a genuine winter population, with local markets and history running year-round.
